Cape Byron Distillery wins the start up superstar award, NSW regional business awards 2017

Cape Byron Distillery is a family owned and operated business and a pioneer for distilling spirits in the Northern Rivers region. They launched Brookie’s Byron Dry Gin exclusively through the Australian crowdfunding platform Pozible during late 2016.

Eddie Brook, Distiller and Co-founder was delighted to hear of the recent award recognition. “It has been an incredible 8 months and the future is looking bright and full of gin. We are a family owned and operated business and we are thrilled to be recognized as a superstar amongst all the other talented finalists in the Northern Rivers”.

Since launching, Brookie’s Byron Dry Gin has received international recognition within the distilled spirits industry, receiving gold medals at the San Francisco Spirits Awards and the American SIP awards. And a highly commendable silver medal at the International Wine and Spirits Awards in London, considered the birthplace and spiritual homeland of modern gin.

The distillery cellar door tours have recently launched with a positive response, offering a unique experience for locals and visitors to the region, providing a guided tour of the Brookfarm rainforest, an expertly led tasting of the rainforest gin and an insight into the art of distillation.

The Cape Byron Distillery and Cellar Door is set in the heart of the Brook family’s macadamia farm and regenerated subtropical rainforest, in the hinterland of Byron Bay.
“The rainforest is our inspiration and many of the botanicals are grown and sourced from our rainforest and the northern rivers region that go into creating our Brookie’s gin” says Eddie Brook.

“We are educating visitors to the distillery not just about our gin, but also about the importance of the Big Scrub Rainforest and the use of the vast array of indigenous rainforest foods that are grown on our doorstep”.

Brookie’s Byron Slow Gin is the latest product to drop from Cape Byron Distillery that features the indigenous Davidson Plum, steeped in gin for over 6 months creating an exhilarating flavour of rose, watermelon and bright plum.

As Northern Rivers Start Up Superstar winner, Cape Byron Distillery will enter the New South Wales Business Chamber Awards state final, to be hosted in Sydney in November 2017 at Sydney’s International Convention Centre.
